Listing Description

Bring your event here: Family Reunions, Snowmobile club, ATV club, Golfing, Girls weekend, Corporate trip, or Fishing buddies! …or just bring a few family & friends and have fun in this spacious home with a large backyard! Enjoy all that the north woods has to offer in this comfortable, amazing home and setting. Located near the Chetac chain of lakes, we enjoy spectacular views, abundant wildlife and plenty of outdoor activities year–round. We’re on the Tuscobia ATV and Snowmobile trail and hikers enjoy access to the Ice Age Trail.
Park your trailer and hit the trails, across the road from our home, to recreational trails for ATV/UTV, snowmobiling, biking and hiking. The Tuscobia Trail is the main off road/ATV trail. Running for about 65 miles, it is well marked and easily accessible. The ATV/Snowmobile trail is just across the road (Cty Rd F) from where you turned into our driveway. In addition, The Ice Age National Scenic Trail, a thousand-mile footpath entirely within Wisconsin is nearby to hike some of the state’s most beautiful natural areas. For biking, the Chequamegon National Forest offers endless hours of trails.
This property does not have lake access, but there are 2 public boat landings on Big Lake Chetac or plan to discover all of the lakes in the area.
Watersports are #1 on everyone’s list. Our lakes have room for all water sports: swimming, water-skiing, sailing, pontooning, canoeing, paddleboats, kayaks or wave runners. Big Chetec is a great lake for recreation and fishing with over 2,000 acres of ‘boatable’ water to explore. There are multiple places on the lake to rent fishing boats or pontoons so that you can enjoy the sand bar on the lake as well as a couple of islands to explore and potentially camp on.
Golf is one of our best-kept secrets. The area offers an array of golf courses ranging from Championship to Executive. Tagalong, an 18-hole course patterned after St. Andrews in Scotland is challenging and fun. There are no less than 7 other courses within a short drive. If you enjoy golfing, bring the clubs along.
CHECK OUT ALL OF THE LAKES IN THE AREA…
RED CEDAR LAKE:
Red Cedar Lake rivals Big Chetac Lake in size (1,841 acres) but is considerably deeper (53 feet maximum) and more varied in structure. Many a walleye fisherman has spent years studying Red Cedar, always coming away with a sense that there’s still more out there… more bars, ridges and shoreline to explore. Walleye, perch, bluegill, crappie, northern and bass move freely between Balsam, Red Cedar and Hemlock Lakes.
THE NARROWS & BIG BIRCH LAKE:
Around here, ‘The Narrows’ refers to the channel flowing south between Big Chetac Lake and Big Birch Lake. Big Birch is significantly smaller than Big Chetac but offers unique differences. Its 368 acres contain deeper water (73′ max. vs. 24′ mean depth) and more structure (bars and drop-offs) for that most elusive game fish – the walleye. At the southern end of Big Birch Lake is the popular Village-run Doolittle Park , with swimming, lakeside camping, RV hookups and a boat landing.
LITTLE BIRCH:
Little Birch is the impoundment of water just prior to the Birch Lake Dam. Fishermen like Little Birch for its shoreline, good for bass and panfish.
BIG CHETAC: (we are next to this lake)
Big Chetac Lake has its beginning in Edgewater flowing south to The Narrows near Birchwood with 1,920 acres of northern pike, walleye, bass and panfish. Maximum depth is 28′ and averages 12-18″. Motor trolling is permitted. Big Chetac Lake spreads out into slough like areas favored by bass and other predator fish. Weed beds provide cover for large schools of panfish, always a favorite in the frying pan. Big Chetac Lake still maintains a northern ambience, with a feeling of uncrowded freedom. Fall and winter fishing is also popular.
SPIDER LAKE CHAIN:
The Spider Lake Chain consists of five lakes totaling approximately 300 acres and total linear distance of 3 1/2 miles. The Spider Lake area is unique in its lack of development (most of the surrounding land is county-owned). There is a generous dose of wilderness here. A small boat or canoe is the best way to fish these lakes. Shallow channels connect them and over a dozen islands provide structure. The irregular shoreline gives these lakes their “spidery” appearance. Northerns, largemouth bass, crappies and bluegills are the main fare.
LONG LAKE:
Long Lake in Washburn County is clear and deep. Its 3,290 acres is advertised as the “walleye capital of Wisconsin” but northern, bass and numerous panfish and cisco populate its waters. A mean depth of 26′ (max 74′) and its almost 100 miles of shoreline also make Long Lake ideal for sailing. There are five public landings from which to launch your boat.
WINTER: “Bring on the Snow!” is a cheer echoed by all as the last leaf of autumn hits the ground. When the snow flies and our lake freezes over is when the true outdoor adventurer comes alive.
The thrill of snowmobiling can be found on hundreds of miles of local trails that are part of the largest network of snowmobiling trails in the Midwest. County and community clubs ensure a smooth ride by their dedication to grooming, signage and trail maintenance.
Step into your cross country skis and off you go out our backdoor or across the lake. Looking for picturesque cross country trails, then try Nordic Woods, Beaver Brook, Ice Age Trail, or the famed Birkebeiner Trail.
If you think fishing is over once the boats are off the lake, think again. Get your tipups, jig poles and ice shanty ready for some real fishing fun.
Visit historic Stout Island: Stout Island has been captivating visitors for nearly 150 years. By landing on these historic shores, you’re joining a long list of adventure-seekers.
This is a great place to come any time of year with nearby attractions in Birchwood, Hayward, Spooner, and Rice Lake.
If you prefer to stay at home you can enjoy our rec room to take on a game of Pool or ping pong. You can also choose to snuggle up with a good book on the porch or by the firepit.
